IAI/TAMAM's Modular Azimuth Position System (TMAPS)

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will supply TAMAM's Modular Azimuth Position System (TMAPS) to the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) to be utilized on the M109 Self- Propelled Guns of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The multi-year contract potential totals $40 million (USD).

The inertial navigation system provides position, laying, heading and orientation data.
TMAPS is suitable for various types of platforms such as Self-Propelled guns, towed guns, artillery radars, rocket launchers, mortars, observation vehicles and other kinds of vehicles, in different battlefield scenarios.
Based on TAMAM's excellent Ring Laser Gyro (RLG), the TMAPS is the most cost-effective advanced inertial navigation system available, and can operate in GPS-disturbed or jammed battlefield scenarios.

Mr. David Dina, acting General Manager of IAI's TAMAM Division, said: "The TMAPS is part of TAMAM's advanced line of successful land navigation systems, and we are proud that the Israeli Ministry of Defense has chosen our system for the M109 Self-Propelled Guns of the Israel Defense Forces."
