Optimized for tactical use, the BirdEye 650D features automated flight controls from takeoff to landing, ensuring simple, efficient, and safe operation by ground forces. A pneumatic launcher and parachute/airbag recovery system with a unique, fail-safe flip manoeuvre help protect the aircraft and its payload.
OVERVIEW
The BirdEye 650D is an advanced, affordable, long-endurance small tactical unmanned aerial system (UAS) designed for demanding intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions. Optimized for organic operations alongside manoeuvring ground forces, this fixed-wing UAV provides real-time day/night intelligence for all missions, including urban environments and over-the-hill reconnaissance. Developed by IAI, based on extensive UAS design expertise, the BirdEye 650D delivers a fully integrated ISTAR solution tailored to customers’ mission needs.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Wide coverage, stabilized day/night payload and moving target tracker
- Long Endurance Small Tactical UAS
- A unique fail-safe recovery concept for protecting the payload
- Fully automated flight including takeoff and landing
- Very low visual and noise signature
- Multiple payload capabilities
- Safe, reliable, & easy operation
- Pneumatic launcher for take-off
- Parachute and airbag recovery system
Values & Benefits
The system is highly mobile and transportable via a trailer for easy deployment with a minimized logistical footprint. Operated by three personnel using a vehicle-mounted ground control station (GCS) or portable, user-operated controls, it empowers tactical units to own and prioritize ISTAR assets.
Powered by a fuel-based internal combustion engine (ICE), the BirdEye 650D achieves up to 15 hours of endurance and a 150 km range. Its 15,000 feet maximum altitude, with loiter speeds of 40–80 KTAS, enables wide-area coverage and persistent surveillance, while its low visual and acoustic signature enhances covert mission capabilities.
Accommodating a payload of up to 5.5 kg, it integrates stabilized day/night sensors and moving target trackers to support a wide range of ISTAR operations, including reconnaissance, patrol, counterterrorism, convoy escort, communications relay, and law enforcement.
