The Machining Center is an excellent supplier of machined detail parts, based on its state-of-the-art equipment and skilled, experienced manpower. The center’s expertise is the production of 4- and 5-axis parts for aerospace products, with typical items such as bulkheads, ribs, spars, longerons, and skins made of titanium, aluminum alloys, stainless steel, and composites. These items are supplied to the leading programs at IAI.
OVERVIEW
IAI Sheet Metal Center focuses on “Ready for Assembly” Stretch Formed Parts. The Stretch Forming Center includes two Stretch Forming facilities, thus increasing the center’s ability to provide high-quality parts at the lowest price. The Sheet Metal Center produces all parts with double curvature geometry, including fuselage skins, wing leading edge segments, and horizontal and vertical stabilizers leading edge panels.
HIGHLIGHTS
- 5 axis high speed machining
- Stretch Forming Center
- Sheet metal parts
Values & Benefits
The Stretch Forming Center is supported by in-house state-of-the-art facilities, including Surface Mechanical or Chemical Milling, Heat Treatment, Surface Treatment, NC Trimming (Metallic & Composite), and Painting. These advanced capabilities ensure quality, precision, and efficiency across all manufacturing processes.
IAI introduced into service the MTorres Surface Removal Milling Machine, a revolutionary technology for mechanically performing the aircraft skins thickness reduction process, traditionally executed using chemical milling. The mechanical milling advantages include: milling, routing, drilling, inspection, and quality control performed in one location without moving the part; skin thickness control (in the pocket) maintained during the milling process; higher and better accuracy; reduction of cycle time and labor cost; elimination of chemical line operations cost and environmental issues; and complete recycling of all scraped aluminum.
