Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is establishing a Civil Aviation organization that will coordinate and oversee all relevant activities within the company. The new group includes IAI’s Bedek Aviation Group, Commercial Aircraft Group, and Engineering Group, which operates in both the civilian and defence fields. The new group will be led by Mr. Gadi Cohen, previously Vice President of the Engineering and Development Group.
Joseph Weiss, CEO and President of IAI, said: “By establishing the Civil Aviation organization we are creating a center of knowledge and excellence that concentrates IAI’s extensive experience in these areas. Coordinating IAI’s civil aviation activities on a company wide basis will allow us to build and develop an efficient, unified strategy and make the most of the potential synergies between the groups.”
Civil aviation now accounts for about 30% of IAI’s activities, and includes developing and producing business jets, aircraft overhaul and maintenance services (MRO), and converting passenger aircraft to freighter and tanker configurations. In recent years, the company has improved logistics and production processes with extensive use of automated assembly lines to optimize the use of raw materials, and more effective and rapid completion of work in progress, with less impact on the environment.
