“Latin America serves as an important growth engine with extensive business potential for IAI’s large spectrum of advanced technological solutions”
I am filled with a sense of pride as I see the impressive Israeli representation here at the show, which reflects the Israeli defence industries’ impressive technological power and advanced capabilities,” said Rafi Maor, Israel Aerospace Industries’ (IAI) Chairman of the Board, at the opening ceremony of LAAD 2015, the largest aerospace, defence and homeland security event in Latin America, taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from April 14-17.
The ceremony was attended by Israel’s ambassador to Brazil, the Director of SIBAT (the Israel defence export and defence cooperation agency), representatives from Israeli defence industries, military attaches from Latin America, and others.
Maor, who spoke on behalf of Israel’s defence industries, said that South America in general and Brazil in particular, are viewed as growth engines with extensive business potential for IAI’s large spectrum of advanced technological solutions: “Many Israeli industries, including IAI, have established local laboratories, factories and intellectual property centers by investing in local companies and transferring relevant technologies to their local partners.”
“The world faces extensive security challenges, some of which involving different perceptions of warfare such as asymmetric conflict and cyber-war – and for most of these, Israel’s defence industries have succeeded in offering advanced and precise technological solutions,” added Maor in his speech.
Maor spoke of Operation Protective Edge last summer, noting that many systems developed by the Israeli defence industry have been proven in battle, and helped the IDF to successfully perform a variety of tasks needed to protect Israel’s citizens effectively, accurately and in a humane manner.
“Many of these systems are displayed here at LAAD and are attracting the interest of the world’s most advanced armies,” he added.
