New logistics provider to provide comprehensive solutions for all of IAI’s logistics and supply chain needs
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced that it has selected “Globus Worldwide Logistics” as the winner in its tender for provision of logistics services to IAI facilities across Israel.
With IAI backlog reaching an all times record of $11.1 billion last year, the Company was required to act promptly and implement advanced systems solutions for logistics and supply chain. The logistic revolution that will start now that the tender winner is announced is meant to achieve significant saving in storage space and streamline operations, and shorten schedules from the moment the items are received in the Logistic Center until they are delivered to the production lines. As stated, the service will be provided by Globus including on-demand 24X7 services throughout the year.
Yehoshua Eldar, Corporate ECV, supply chain management, procurement and logistics at IAI said, “Using an external logistic center will allow IAI to enhance all inter-organizational processes associated with logistics and supply chain, resulting in considerable financial saving and conversion of storage space into production floors. This, in turn, will advance the intensive marketing and organizational initiatives currently taking place at IAI as part of accelerated business operations. The bidders in IAI’s logistics tender were required to demonstrate compliance with Logistic 4.0, the most recent international logistic standard, which covers very high levels of service, efficiency and professionalism, high productivity and use of advanced technologies. The new logistic center will handle hundreds of thousands of items with highly-diversified storage and transportation requirements.
