OVERVIEW
Modern mission platforms from fighter jets and UAVs to helicopters and naval combat vehicles require the seamless transfer of mission-critical data between aircraft, ground stations, and command centers. Conventional communication systems often face limitations in range, bandwidth, and immunity to hostile electromagnetic interference. Ensuring long-range broadband connectivity beyond the line of sight (BLOS) while maintaining secure, reliable performance in contested environments is essential for successful operations.
HIGHLIGHTS
- High-speed, secure data transfer of voice, data, and video
- Wideband data transfer rate – 1 Mbps
- Operates bi-directional links in Ku or Ka bands
- Supports P2P or Network topology
- Reliable performance in hostile electromagnetic environments
- Low SWaP – can be installed on small platforms
Values & Benefits
IAI ELTA’s ELK-1882T SATCOM AESA Wideband Terminal delivers unmatched performance in communications beyond the line of sight. Built on advanced Software-Defined Radio (SDR), the system provides secure, high-throughput voice, data, and streaming video for long-range communication between mission platforms, ground stations, and headquarters. Electronic beam steering establishes a continuous link with the satellite, even when the platform is in motion and executing complex maneuvers.
With low-profile Active Electronic Scan Antenna (AESA) technology, the system is installed conformally to the platform’s outer contour. This provides a significant reduction in drag and Radar Cross Section (RCS) as compared with dish antenna SATCOM systems. In addition,, its SWaP-optimized design ensures adaptability across various platforms, including fighter jets, helicopters, UAVs, loitering munitions, and ground vehicles.
The terminal complies with ITU-R 524-9 spectral density regulation for small antennas utilizing Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum technology. It provides a high MTBF and graceful degradation due to phased array technology.
