OVERVIEW
Scorpius-T (ELL-8257SB) is a multi-threat Electronic Warfare (EW) emulator for aircrew training, system testing, and evaluation. It provides a breakthrough solution to a crucial operational requirement: training aircrews for combat readiness in a complex and rapidly-developing threat environment. Scorpius-T uniquely enables fifth-generation fighter pilots to train while employing the full capabilities of their aircraft, preparing them for mission success in dense modern and future battlefields.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Emulator for aircrew training and system testing and evaluation
- Advanced training scenarios for fourth and fifth-generation fighter aircraft
- Based on an RF emulator employing Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) with Gallium-Nitride (GaN) technology
Values & Benefits
Scorpius-T emulates the full range of air-defence radars and other emitters, including legacy and modern long-range threats such as Active Electronic Scanned Array (AESA) radar. With a programmable and updatable threat database, it supports current and future threats—including surface-to-air missile systems, radar systems, communication links, and ground-based EW systems. This approach allows a single platform to efficiently emulate an unlimited variety of threats while remaining future-proof.
The system employs groundbreaking Staring Multibeam AESA technology, generating multiple narrowly-focused beams simultaneously in different directions. This enables training of individual pilots or coordinated fighter formations, each receiving separately tailored emissions. It supports the operational needs of fifth-generation fighters operating in networked formations, sharing signals information between aircraft.
Scorpius-T creates diverse and effective training scenarios with smart operational planning and debriefing tools offering real-time feedback. Each emulated threat simulates radar waveforms through the full operational sequence, from search to missile lock-on, responding to trainees’ countermeasures and evasive maneuvers to deliver complex, realistic training sessions with immediate debriefing.
Highly mobile, Scorpius-T allows fast changes in emitter locations to enable dynamic and challenging scenarios. It can be readily shipped for international joint training exercises or operated from a ship’s deck for mid-sea naval air training, providing the flexibility necessary to prepare aircrews for a wide range of operational environments.
