OVERVIEW
The ELM-2040 OTH-B radar by IAI-ELTA Systems is an advanced early warning system that detects and tracks threats at extreme distances. Using High-Frequency (3–30 MHz) AESA technology and over-the-horizon techniques, it overcomes the limits of traditional line-of-sight radars.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Detection of low targets over the horizon
- Ranges of up to thousands of kilometers
- Wide and flexible angular coverage
Values & Benefits
The ELM-2040 can detect low-flying and high-speed aerial threats, including ballistic missiles, hypersonic armaments, cruise missiles, fighter jets, and other aerial and sea surface targets. This detection is made possible by bouncing radar waves off the ionosphere, effectively extending its reach.
This unique backscatter technology enables the radar to cover vast distances, providing crucial early warning long before threats reach the horizon. The system autonomously searches up to a 180° azimuth sector, offering wide-area coverage and the ability to track multiple targets simultaneously.
Sophisticated digital signal processing algorithms enhance accuracy and target classification by suppressing noise and interference. The radar can reliably detect low-flying targets obscured by terrain, ensuring effective wide-area air and maritime surveillance.
Designed to integrate seamlessly with a nation’s existing air defence systems, the ELM-2040 is a proven and dependable solution for modern defence needs, ensuring comprehensive coverage and enhanced situational awareness.
