Achieving situational awareness is of the utmost importance for units engaged in combat. It is a key to survival and mission success. IAI ELTA’s combat proven ELO-5220 OTHELLO family of Hostile Fire Indicators (HFI) supports this effort by quickly and accurately locating the source of direct fire, including gunshots, rockets and Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM).

OTHELLO operates silently and passively using Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) and daylight (CMOS) sensors. Muzzle flashed and rocket launch flashes are instantly detected and the system calculates the direction of fire in azimuth and elevation with high angular accuracy, and classifies the threat with a high probability of detection (PD) and low false alarm rate (FAR).
Compact and available in different sizes and configurations, OTHELLO integrates with wheeled and tracked vehicle platforms and weapons systems. For example, it can be linked to a Remote-Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS) for slew to cue response. The system can be deployed on its own or combined with radar and self-protection systems. It can also be configured for deployment at stationary positions.
