OVERVIEW
Navigating the complexities of the maritime arena demands a comprehensive and effective surveillance solution. Designed specifically to master these challenges, IAI’s Maritime Heron Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) uses the Heron Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAS as a versatile national security and maritime response platform. It ensures persistent surveillance and effective response across expansive maritime environments, supporting monitoring, search and rescue, and the protection of sovereign waters.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Multiple proven operational capabilities
- Multi-sensor capability incl. SATCOM, MPR
- Proven safe dual Automatic Take off & Landing (ATOL) system
- State-of-the-art avionics and communications
- High-quality training simulator/training center and UAS academy
- Proven in extreme weather – cold, humid, hot, icy, snowy
Values & Benefits
Developed in close cooperation with the Israeli and international naval forces, the Maritime Heron comprises an integrated system including the platform, avionics, mission payloads, and shipborne or ground controls, all tailored for maritime missions.
The system’s mission payloads include multiple sensors, such as a Maritime Patrol Radar (MPR), Automatic Identification System (AIS), Electro Optics (EO), Electronic Support Measures (ESM), and Communications Intelligence (COMINT). These sensors gather, fuse, and generate a maritime domain awareness picture relayed to the user via datalink. Line of Sight or SATCOM datalinks afford the UAS a limitless mission control range.
Fitted with an aviation-certified engine, the Heron can reach an altitude of over 35,000 feet, a maximum speed of 150 knots, and an endurance of 45 consecutive hours, enabling long, uninterrupted missions in demanding maritime conditions.
The Heron family’s robust design, proven in over 2,200,000 operational flight hours, features a wide and strong aerostructure, quick and efficient maintenance, short turnarounds, remote operability, and rapid payload configuration to ensure high availability and all-weather operability.
