OVERVIEW
The Heron is a Medium-Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial system (UAS) operated by customers worldwide in strategic, tactical, and homeland security missions. With the capability to conduct continuous operations for up to 45 hours at altitudes of up to 35,000 feet, the Heron is a robust and combat-proven platform. It boasts hundreds of thousands of operational flight hours and is entrusted by over 22 global leaders across a diverse spectrum of mission types.
Multi-Mission Capability
The Heron’s multi-mission system is engineered to manage up to six different mission payloads concurrently, enabling the execution of complex intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions. It operates effectively across varied terrains, including mountains, forests, jungles, swamps, maritime environments, and urban areas. The Heron also offers a unique capacity to carry and operate customer-furnished sensor suites, meeting specific operational requirements.

- Capable of landing on unpaved runways
- Safe, reliable, and easy to operate.
- Best flight performance and payload capacity.
- Proven high MTBF/MTBL and low lifecycle cost.
Values & Benefits
The Heron’s datalink collects real-time ISTAR feeds from onboard sensors and transfers that data to the ground segment or directly to tactical-level end users. With direct line-of-sight and satellite communication links, the Heron’s operational range is essentially limited only by fuel availability, supporting missions extending over 1,000 km from its operating base.
The combination of performance and payloads enables the Heron to operate in a stand-off mode, allowing users to conduct missions safely from beyond the reach of enemy anti-aircraft weapons. This ensures continued real-time intelligence collection even in the presence of hostile air defences.
The Heron distinguishes itself as an operational UAS in the Israeli Air Force (IAF), performing beyond line-of-sight operations and special missions. It is also exclusively dedicated to naval operations for the Israeli Navy, further demonstrating its versatility and reliability across domains.
